I recognize that all students are different and there is not a one size fits all approach to education. Our differences in the classroom are both seen and unseen, but will be honored equally and individually.
By following the classroom procedures and adhering to the class expectations I am better able to deliver student-centered learning. Our classroom seeks to achieve the goals set forth by the common core curriculum, but to do so in a way that honors each student as an individual leaner.
With a well managed classroom that is adhering to the McGee pledge, our procedures, and our expectations, I can learn more about each student and bring lessons to the classroom which align with their personal goals, values, and learning styles.
It is my strongly held belief that individuals are all different for a reason and that these differences are our greatest strengths. A classroom is made of many different experiences and by sharing them with one another we stand to gain a lot.
In accordance with the goal of having a student-centered learning environment our workspace should be considered to be a place where:
Inclusion is the norm.
Gender diversity is acknowledged and respected.
All abilities are recognized and valued.
Neurodiversity is respected and appreciated.
Our differences are celebrated.
We are actively anti-racist.
Racism, discrimination, and any form of bias are not tolerated.
All students deserve:
Equal access to a quality education.
Opportunities to meet clearly measured expectations.
Full inclusion regardless of race, gender, neurodiversity, language, or religious belief.
To be recognized as individual learners with differing needs and abilities.
